Point Defiance Zoo

Sunday July 4th we decide to head to the zoo.  They have some patriotic themed events going on for the day.  Bre, Mike and myself are meeting Liz, Curt, Kayla and Gabby there.  As is the norm for my group we are running a little late and have to meet Liz and crew inside the zoo as they are already looking around by the time we get there.  The weather was perfect for a day at the zoo.

They made the tiger a red, white and blue popsicle from blood, milk and blue food coloring.  He really enjoyed it!

Polar bear! He was just so freakin cute!

Me and Breanne.

The meerkats are just the cutest things....Could watch them all day.

Feeding the goats...I still love this, these guys are just so funny and sweet.

At the Budgee barn. You can purchase seed on a stick for $1. No seed..no birds! I managed to get two a a time by removing one from my stick and letting another fly on.  Only got a few rather painless nips in the process.  Kayla however really wanted to hold a bird but no seed=no bird!  Plus she was afarid to actually just reach out and touch one.

It was a great day spent with great friends and my wonderful kids.

July 3rd Fireworks at Emerald Downs

Every year now for about 12 years we have been going to Emerald Downs on the 3rd of July to watch the horse races and the fireworks.  It is always a fun day with friends trying to pick the winner and ending with a spectacular fireworks display.  This year was no exception.  Breanne, Mike and myself were joined by Liz, Curt, Kayla, Gabby, Tyler, Zach, Janie, Mother, Carmen, Lex, Anna, Harry and a couple of Harry's friends.

Liz and Curt.  We arrived at 2:00 to claim a good spot.  The races don't start until 5:00 but if yu are not there early there will be no good places left to set up.  Even getting there as early as we did all of the up front track spot were gone! We still got a great spot though.

Mike, Liz, Curt, Zach and Breanne all eating Red Vines!

Tyler and Breanne - Huh!

Janie and Carmen enjoing some of the delicous food that we bring.  We always bring  ton of food so we won't have to buy too expesive track grub.  And more money can be spent on MARGARITAS!

Lex and Ann waited in line for over to hours to get these wax hands done.  We really did have a fun day talking, easting, betting and drinking...Then it was time for the Fireworks!  In my opinion it is the best show around.
